Solo Performance – Timothy Burris, “The Presence of the Past”

11/6/22: ArtsFarmington presents: “The Presence of the Past,” A solo performance by Timothy Burris on baroque lute and classical guitar

In the first half of the performance Timothy Burris plays baroque music from ca 1650 to 1720 on baroque lute, the second half is devoted to guitar music of the 20th through the 21st century.  The title “Presence of the Past” refers to the resurfacing of baroque and renaissance styles in the later modern guitar music.

Timothy Burris is presently on the faculties of applied music of the Portland Conservatory of Music and Colby College. He received a performance degree in lute from the Royal Conservatory in The Hague and holds a PhD from Duke University.  He has widely appeared in the US and in Europe.
