Please join us for a screening of the 2022 award-winning documentary film, MASTER OF LIGHT, directed by Rosa Ruth Boesten. George Anthony Morton, a classical painter who spent ten years in federal prison travels to his hometown to paint his family members. Going back forces George to face his past in his quest to rewrite the script of his life. This event is being offered in conjunction with the art exhibition: Inside Vision: An Outside Exhibition of Inside Art, on view in Emery Community Arts Center from November 3 – December 10, 2022.

In addition to the film screening, the Justice Arts Coalition will be tabling in the Emery Community Arts Center for community members to write holiday cards to incarcerated artists from 6-9pm. The Justice Arts Coalition is a national organization of over 530 artists in prison around the country and allies. We want to thank the artists for their artwork and creative contributions to the organization, and send them warm wishes in a place that is often unfriendly. Paper and pens will be provided. Come and send someone a meaningful letter! For more information about the Justice Arts Coalition, go here!
