Beekeeper’s Veil – Hurricane Valley Farm

Cyanotype, 15” x 22”

The farmers at Hurricane Valley Farm have six hives and a growing bee business.
Roughly three-quarters of the fruits, vegetables, and nuts we eat are pollinated by bees
and more than 50 species of native bees pollinate Washington County’s lowbush
blueberries. Due to a complex mix of habitat loss, monocropping, viruses, pesticides,
and climate change, bees are in crisis. As a way to help out, more and more people are
setting up managed hives in country fields and urban spaces.
