Artist Talk with Lisa Deloria Weinblatt

The UMF Art on Campus Program welcomes Fall ’18 featured artist Lisa Deloria Weinblatt to campus for an artist talk on Wednesday, October 3rd at 12pm. This event is free and open to the public.

Works from Weinblatt’s SCHOOL LUNCH series are on view in Mantor Library from August 20-December 31, 2018.

The UMF Art on Campus Program is sponsored by the H. King & Jean Cummings Charitable Fund of the Maine Community Foundation and the UMF Office of the President.

About the Artist:

A portrait of Lisa Weinblatt.

Lisa Deloria Weinblatt graduated Magna Cum Laude, Art Department Honors, 1987, from Queens College, Flushing, New York. She received her MFA from the School of Visual Arts, NYC, in 1991.
She has been awarded five Artist-In-Residence National Scholarships
In 2005, Lisa exhibited in nine museum shows across the USA. She has had over 35 solo exhibitions and has exhibited in over 175 group shows.

Weinblatt writes, “The SCHOOL LUNCH series is a pictorial essay of contemporary student life, in real educational settings. Contemporary cross-cultural issues and their emotional attitudes are explored in the shared experience of schoo lunch. SCHOOL LUNCH is generated from direct observation, drawing on location in NYC High Schools and Colleges. SCHOOL LUNCH underlines perceptions which affirm cultural identity, brings together ideas espousing contemporary concerns and encourages a belief in the quality of the human spirit.”
